Going Back for the One

She was only 17 when traffickers took her.

For years, she was trapped in darkness. Then one night, she escaped. She ran to the authorities, pleading for help.

But she didn’t just want freedom for herself—she wanted freedom for the other girls still enslaved.

So she chose to stay.

She stayed in captivity, believing we would come back. Believing that a rescue mission was coming—not just for her, but for the many still trapped alongside her.

Her courage led us to a major operation—one that took months to complete. The night of the planned rescue, everything was in place. But at the last moment, the local authorities called it off.

As one of our operatives locked eyes with the young woman who thought she was getting rescued that night, the betrayal in her gaze haunted him.

"I will never forget the look of betrayal in her eyes," he said.

But we refused to give up. Months later, with renewed determination, our team received the green light to go in again.

And this time, we didn’t just rescue her—we rescued over 39 others and dismantled two international trafficking rings.
